ATA Current Job Openings Mechanical and Biomedical Engineers Location: Washington DC Metro Area Description: Provide engineering support to other engineers in developing and maintaining safety standards in motor vehicle crashes. Program tasks include automotive industry production market research, reviewing data, reviewing reports received by individuals or organizations, coordination, and reporting. After receiving general instructions with each assignment, engineer must be able carry out the assignment with some guidance. Work is generally performed in an office setting. Requirements: BS degree in Mechanical or Biomedical engineering. Requires knowledge of mechanical or biomedical engineering principles and practices applicable to mechanical engineering. Must possess the ability to apply standard engineering practices, methods, and techniques to perform technical analyses. Must possess good writing skills, knowledge of MS project management, analytical skills, and team working skills. Clearance: None Required
Project Manager/Senior Systems Engineer Location: Washington DC Metro Area Description: Project Manager (PM) must have a good understanding of current transportation issues including traffic management, freight and fleet management, and transit management, as well as institutional and interoperability issues. PM should have demonstrated success in keeping programs on schedule and within budget, and in providing high quality products meeting the sponsor's expectations. PM will be responsible for overall management of projects, including supervising the staff, quality assurance for all products delivered to the government, and availability of resources to complete all work. Requirements: Must possess a technical degree and at least 10 to 15 years of experience in research, development, and deployment (RD&D) of Intelligent Transportation Systems or related technologies and shall also possess at least five years of experience in managing a group of technical staff in this field (the five years of managerial experience may overlap with, or be contained within, the 10 to 15 years of RD&D experience).
Office Administrators Location: Washington DC Metro Area Description: Office Administrator (OA) shall be responsible for the overall organization and supervision of all of the administrative activities that facilitate the operation of the office and be responsible for carrying out a range of administrative related activities. OA will be responsible for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, arranging travel, meetings, and appointments; delegating work to other administrative support staff; ordering office products and office furniture; meeting with supervisors and coordinators to review office performance; organizing office maintenance and repair work; and supervising the implementation of new office systems. Requirements: Must possess a two-year Associate's Degree and shall have two or more years of relevant experience, or a minimum of 6 years of relevant demonstrated experience.
Database Managers Location: Washington DC Metro Area Description: Database Manager (DM) should have demonstrated experience in planning, maintaining and developing databases. DM should have knowledge of and experience with project management, financial tracking, and publications administration databases. DM should have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and capabilities to coordinate, test, and implement changes to computer databases, and plan and implement security measures to safeguard these computer databases. DM may occasionally be requested to provide additional hours of support, either on-site or off-site. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office 2000 software for MS Project, Access, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint, and have the ability to proofread, edit, consolidate, and manage data. Must be able to prepare accurate and timely reports and be familiar with spreadsheet software including entering data, modifying existing spreadsheets, and creating new spreadsheets as project requirements dictate. Must be familiar with database programs including entering and interpreting data, being able to provide programming changes in the database functionality, and being able to interact well with staff, customers, and remote site personnel to facilitate data gathering. Requirements: Must have two or more years of experience in database management and shall have a technical degree, preferably a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information science, or management information systems, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Publications Managers Location: Washington DC Metro Area Description: Publications Manager (PM) must have discretion, independent judgment, originality, creativity, the ability to form good working relationships with multiple internal and external customers, and a strong customer service ethic. PM must be able to handle multiple tasks, be highly organized, flexible and dependable; have the ability to set priorities and to adapt to changing situations quickly; possess good communication skills and amiable personality. PM will prepare documents for publication processing, (i.e. desktop publishing, soliciting and receiving bids for graphics, artwork, color separations, negative and plate work) for the ITS JPO staff and contractors. Maintain of all records in an MS Access database Systems Administrator for the Publication database. Distribute of publications and maintenance of distribution lists for administrations. Coordinate with DOT Warehouse/Distribution staff on inventory, storage and delivery of publications to the worldwide community of transportation Serve as a liaison between Electronic Document Library/Web team and the ITS community for documents to ensure uniformity and consistency between the Electronic Document Library and web site references. Assess the requester's needs is often required, so a good general knowledge of ITS projects, programs, publications, associations and related Web sites is a plus. Requirements: Must possess a four-year college degree in publishing, communications, English, marketing, or related coursework, or equivalent experience.
